Dreading tomorrow

I want to start this post off by saying how thankful I am for having such an amazing-loving-supporting-understanding husband. The pregnancy has been very emotional for me for many of reasons and he really has been my rock. I also have became a lot closer to God, especially in prayer.

These are just a few of the verses that have helped me with this journey.

At my last ultra sound, on June 14th we were told that our baby was weighing 9lbs 12oz. When they called on Monday, the 17th, the nurse stated that they didn't know if I was going to birth him vaginally but we would talk about it more at my appointment on Thursday, the 20th. At this point I thought I had it in my head that I was okay with having a c-section if it came down to in, but I still wanted to try a vaginal birth and then c-section. We went into our appointment letting our doctor know that is what we wanted to do.

We were very strong and bold about it. And then we let her explain their reasoning for having me have a c-section. The baby is weighing 4,400 grams as of June 14th, if the baby gets to 5,000 grams our doctor will not deliver him due to the chance of shoulder dysplasia or the baby dying being so big. She also stated that I would be having another ultra sound on Tuesday, tomorrow. At this time I felt that I would hopefully be having the baby over the weekend so I wasn't to concerned. Also, I thought well I should still be able to try but our baby has two parents, and we need to make a joint decision. Matt is very concerned about the chance of the baby dying so we have agreed if he is over 5,000 grams we will go on with the plan of a c-section.

But now........it's the day before my ultra sound to see how big he is and to determine weather or not I will have a c-section or vaginal birth. Let's just say today has been very emotional for me. For reasons I'm not quite sure of. I think a big part of it is, almost everyone I have talked to about having a c-section, have told me that I really shouldn't do it and need to really push for a vaginal birth, so I feel like we are lacking support, even more then we were before. Also I think it makes me feel like a failure if I have a c-section, I'm not sure why, from everyone I have talked to recovery is a lot harder having a c-section. I am also having a hard time not knowing when I am going to have this *stubborn*(with a smile) "little" baby, so maybe by having a c-section and a planned date is a way of God telling me that is an answer to one question.

Steps from here: praying, We are praying that 1. I either go into labor tonight(although I haven't had any signs), 2. God somehow shows me reasoning behind things, if I do have to have a c-section, 3. God shows/tells me I am a going to be a good mother and to not be scared.

Well this blog post has now taken me almost 2 hours and if it was a paper, it would be drenching wet from tears from emotions.

Matt's 1st Father's Day

Even though baby Speiser isn't here yet, Matt is already an amazing daddy. However, it's not fun being tight on money when holidays or special occasions come around. Thanks to pinterest I made him two gifts he really likes for under $10 dollars($9.97 to be exact!)

Dollar Store: $5.35 for the blue bucket, glass jar, and 3 packages of reese's pieces.
Treasured Times: $4.62 for the ribbon, paper(for the puzzle pieces and letters) and using their cricut machine.

I thought the idea of "Daddy, we love you to pieces" was super cute and he loves chocolate so it was great! And the Patriots bucket is for drinks this summer for around the campfire or even just sitting outside!

Even the smallest gifts mean the most to someone!

Homemade Baby Wipes

So I am usually not one for home remedies/homemade stuff, but being that a good friend of ours, Melissa Roelser, made these and they work just like wipes I am giving it a try! Plus, with me not working 3 weeks earlier than we thought it is saving us money.

Supplies Needed:
Plastic Container -- we had on hand however I am going to look at dollar tree tomorrow for a 2nd one!
Bounty Select a Size Paper Towels: $5.47(Walmart) -- we bought a 2 pack since we are tight on money right now, you only need 1/2 a roll for the recipe, make sure you buy regular size and not the HUGE! Next time we will be buying regular otherwise you have to add more to your recipe!
Baby Oil: $3.26(Walmart - Johnson Brand)
Baby Wash: we had on hand from gifts given to us
Water

All the supplies you need(I was going to use the container but then I realized the paper towels wouldn't fit inside of it!

1. cut the paper towels in half(I had Matt do this, we used a rigid knife, next time I would use a flat knife)

2. Mix in the container:
1 tbs baby bath
1 tbs baby oil
2 cups water
--sorry no picture for this one--

3. pull out the middle cardboard then place 1/2 roll of bounty select a size paper towels in container

4. flip upside down for about 20 minutes

5. then pull the center out and you're done!

Complications Starting at 36 Weeks..Please No

On Thursday, May 30th, I got a call when I was just about back to work saying that they wanted me to come back in for my 3rd glucose test because Baby Speiser is measuring big an they wanted to make sure they didn't miss something. I thought, Okay this shouldn't be a big deal I passed the first two I will pass this one as well, and I agreed I would come in today, Monday. Then at about 4:50 pm I got a call saying my CBC test came back and everything looked fine.

Friday comes, end of month at work and my last day, the day was going fine and I actually got someone to cover for me so I could finish everything for Heather's Surprise baby shower. I had a missed call at 4:57 pm so I called the doctor office back right away(5:01 pm) and the on-call nurse/doctor had called to say that I have "Polyhydramnios" which is excessive amniotic fluid and that they want me to come in ASAP on Monday.

After researching this is what we found out:
**This happens in about 1% of pregnancies.
**What could be causing this problem?: Maternal Diabetes, Carrying twins or multiples, Genetic Abnormalities, Fetal Abnormalities, Fetal Anemia.
**What will happen if I'm diagnosed with polyhydramnios?: "If you're diagnosed with polyhydramnios, your practitioner will order a high-resolution ultrasound to check for abnormalities and possibly amniocentesis to test for a genetic defect.
You'll also need to have regular nonstress tests or ultrasounds for the rest of your pregnancy to monitor your baby's development. And you'll be watched closely for signs ofpreterm labor. If you haven't yet been tested for gestational diabetes, you'll be tested now.
You'll be monitored carefully during labor as well. Because of the extra amniotic fluid, there's a greater risk of an umbilical cord prolapse (when the cord falls through the cervical opening) or a placental abruption when your water breaks. Both require an immediate c-section.
That's why your caregiver will have you come to the hospital early in labor – or right away if your water breaks before you go into labor. Postpartum bleeding is more likely as well, because your overly distended uterus may not be able to contract well, so you'll be watched closely after you give birth, too." - this is what we found at the link listed below.

So after praying about it all weekend trying to not stress out or think about it today has come, it's time for both my glucose test and our appointment. The nurse came in confused why we were there today and not on Thursday I explained the on-call nurse called and said we had to come in. Then our doctor comes in apologizing saying that they weren't VERY worried about the extra fluid at this point, the only thing they are worried about is me being diabetic. That is why they called and told me to do the glucose test. She also told me that my Group B test that they did on Thursday was Negative so that was another JOY!

It was still a scare, being 36 weeks and not having any complications until this, prayers helped a lot though. Now we are praying that my glucose test comes back negative for the 3rd time(we won't know that until tomorrow). However she did say she doesn't know if I will make it to 40 weeks just because of how big he is measuring and especially with this extra fluid. We packed the diaper bag as soon as we got it, and now it's time to pack my bag just in case. It is crazy to think that in less the 4 weeks we will have a baby here!

Also today at the doctor apt baby's heart rate is 150 and my belly is still measuring 39cm!
